Dear students, faculty, staff, and our community,

Just a few years after its founding in 1994, CSU Monterey Bay began a holiday tradition of partnering with non-profit organizations in the community and donating gifts to families in need. The coronavirus pandemic threatened to derail the beloved tradition this year, but the spirit of giving prevailed.

CSU, Monterey Bay campus, is closed from Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019 through Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020.

The California State University (CSU) is planning to return to in-person instruction for Fall 2021.

Debbie Juran, Foundation of California State University, Monterey Bay board member and adoptive mother of two ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog Alumnae, established a planned gift for ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog's College of Education, which predominantly benefits low income and first-generation students.

Martin Cisneros Jr. was one of ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog’s Spring 2020 graduates who had to forego a commemoration ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic. But he’s accustomed to navigating obstacles.

The Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce honored President Eduardo M. Ochoa at the annual Legacy of Leadership event on Nov. 13, which was open to the public via virtual live stream.

ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog has been recognized for its leadership in sustainable practices in the 2020 Sustainable Campus Index, a publication from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), a leader and driver in North America’s campus sustainability movement.

Since 2013, ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog’s annual flu vaccine clinic has been held in the Student Center, organized by Health Promotion and Education in partnership with the Campus Health Center, Monterey County Health Department, and ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog Nursing Program.

Before sheltering-in-place restrictions due to COVID-19, ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog’s Service Learning Institute (SLI) placed about 500 students in local schools every semester to provide tutoring. But since instruction moved online and school districts lost the ability to monitor and control interactions, K-12 officials have been reluctant to allow online tutoring due to liability concerns.
