When the CSU announced most instruction would be delivered remotely for the remainder of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of the roughly 3,600 ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog students who usually live on campus left. But a subset of the student population had no place else to go.

I am reaching out to you on the day that the jury in the George Floyd murder case rendered its verdict of guilty on all counts. This outcome may provide some measure of comfort to Mr. Floyd’s family and raises some hope that our country may be able to make progress toward racial justice and equity after so much pain and anguish in our African-American community.

The Western Association of College and University Business Officers (WACUBO) has accepted Yolanda Anglin, ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog’s director of budget and planning, to its mentorship program for 2021-2022.

The Otter Cross Cultural Center and Otter Student Union hosted a virtual evening chat with actress and LGBTQ+ advocate Laverne Cox on Thursday, April 8. Cox shared her experience being a transgender actress, and she imparted a message about self-love and resilience for ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog students.

On April 8, Angelica Muro, artist and Chair of the Visual and Public Art Department, engaged in virtual conversation with fellow artist Amy Díaz-Infante about their creative practice, personal journeys as artists and educators, and equity in the art and museum worlds.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration announced a $749,810 CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to the University Corporation at Monterey Bay on Thursday, April 8. The grant will provide technical assistance to coronavirus-impacted small businesses and support the economic resiliency of the Monterey Bay region. It is expected to create 35 jobs, retain 200 jobs, and generate $3 million in private investment, a news release.

ÌÇÐĶ¯Âþvlog’s Department of Education and Leadership and the Center for Black Student Success collaborated on an April 7 virtual panel discussion, Men of Color in Education, in an effort to encourage more men of color to consider going into the field of teaching and education.
