GALILEO – TWO VOICES IN ONE SOUL

1953 GALILEO was born as Freddy Scholl in Heilbronn, Germany. As far as he knows, his birthplace "was probably in one of the refugee places down by the River Neckar." Nobody is really sure - Freddy Scholl never knew his parents. This is where a caring welfare worker found the two-year-old boy - completely distraught, neglected and undernourished. After taking Freddy to a clinic, she brought him - like other children with a similar fate to her foster home in the nearby town of Wüstenrot, where she became a loving foster mother. The woman was a blessing for the children. She was the first person to discover Freddy's musical talent and give him her full support.

1959 After a piano was donated to the foster home, the withdrawn, introverted Freddy subsequently spent virtually all his time at the ebony and ivory keys. Music was a language he could express himself in. He played melodies that existed only in his head, and would not leave the piano until he was satisfied with his "compositions". At the age of seven, he started taking piano lessons - but not for long. He simply did not get along with his authoritarian music teacher. Freddy was not happy being restricted to finger exercises, études, and reading notes straight from the sheet music. When his foster mother asked him later how he intended to write down his compositions without being able to read music, Freddy answered: "Don't worry. Some day, they'll make a piano where you play the keys below and the notes come out on top as sheet music..." (Years later, the boy was to be proved right: today, GALILEO uses just such an instrument for writing music - a computer.)

1969 "Only if you have your own piano in your room!" insisted Freddy's foster mother. The situation has since improved. These days, he plays on a full-size grand piano and now in a sound-proofed apartment in the centre of Karlsruhe instead of an out-of-town dormitory room. GALILEO often stays up all night there. Carpe diem. He waits until the city goes to sleep to get the peace and quiet that he needs to try out his musical ideas. "Sometimes, I produce ten or twelve songs in just two weeks.

2000 The same was true of his debut CD. The man with the highly creative musical mind (thanks to his perfect pitch!) developed the concept in just 14 days. It's no real surprise either that GALILEO´s input for "Carpe diem" was not limited to composer and singer - he also played a major part in the production of his own album. "Suddenly, everything became clear to me. Basically, all the songs are drawn solely from my childhood and life story - and from my personal motto: carpe diem."

„GALILEO – Two voices in one soul“ - surprises again and again with his astounding vocal spectrum, his personal charm and his unique talent for singing duets with himself! This spellbinding CD, which includes a rage of soulful ballads, emotional hymns and rhythmic up-tempos, travels the border between classical and modern music. To appreciate this fascinating artist, one must not only hear GALILEO, but see him perform. To experience him is to be caught up in his explosive musical strength. Captivated by such a profound sensitivity for his music, no audience will escape from the boldly innovative standards GALILEO sets.
